Weight Loss Supplements
Weight Loss Supplements are big business, and can be seen by the amount of advertising that is going into them. Everyone is looking for the “magic pill” that will help them lose weight without diet or exercise. Despite what some labels will claim this is impossible. Weight loss supplements are what I like to call “icing on the cake” of a well designed diet and weight loss program. Lets look at some weight loss supplements:
Stimulants- “fat burners” these are the diet pills that get your heart racing, thus boosting your metabolism. I personally know alot of people that cannot function without them so i would consider them somewhat addictive. I do not recommend weight loss products with stimulants in them. While they do work, they can be dangerous for some people to take. There also seems to be huge difference the amount of effect these pills will have from one person to the other.
Fish oil- is my number one choice for fat loss, due to its direct impact on insulin sensitivity. It causes an increase in insulin sensitivity which helps a person lose weight without the added risks and “jitters” that stimulants provide. Fish oil also has numerous health properties and a very good ability to provide a favorable ratio of various weight loss hormones, so it is always the first supplement I recommend. The good thing about fish oil is it’s ability to curb appetite and control inflammation throughout the body. Fish oil also has very good cardio protective properties that should be considered.
Multi vitamins/minerals-recent studies suggest that taking a good multi will help in you weight loss efforts. This is due to its impact on helping with metabolism. Besides, most people should be taking these anyway as they are deficient due to a poor diet.
